Creative Director and Founder
Growing up in Hollywood, California provided endless wild inspiration for Michelle Rajotte. The future called out to her with unlimited artistic possibility. Despite the trailblazing spirit that pushed her forward, Michelle also had an innate respect and reverence for American design heritage and believed strongly that preserving and updating artifacts of the past can be powerfully sustainable.
Flash forward some years and Looking Glass Baths was born at this intersection of ideas that Michelle holds dear. Her vision repurposes relics of American antiquity to create modern day treasures. Her bathtubs are one-of-a-kind art pieces. Michelle holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design, and has spent the past twenty years honing her passion for art, photography and design in L.A., Paris, San Francisco and now Portland, Oregon where she lives with her busy family.
Melinda Essig: Visual and Identity Designer
Melinda has practiced visual design for more than twelve years in Philadelphia and Portland. Her creative work is complimented and informed by her work as a biologist, where she explores the patterns of the natural world at the visible, microscopic, and genetic levels. She specializes in visual and website design, as well as identity development. Melinda works closely with Michelle to bring the Looking Glass Baths visual identity to life.
